There was no television when I was young. It was difficult to convince my children. "Oh no dad," they would say, "always was the TV." They can not understand what people did during the time that night when life was not published by television. But I remember. At night my world was full of radio's magic.

I will lie on the bed in the dark, watching the glow of filaments in my bedside radio. I sometimes imagined that small people were involved in those tubes and I had heard their voices. Now it is difficult to understand the reality of radio in that long time lost in the modern daylight of television. I got ridden with old English and Hindi songs The images that have been drawn in my mind can be more real today than ever-changing, indestructible images with the ubiquitous cathode-ray tubes.

I wanted to make this miracle of radio myself. I created Crystal Radio with "Cat Whiskers" which touched the small cubes of quartz and was heard intensely through earphones because I had transferred the steel pointer over a coil wound on the cardboard tube. Sadly, I never heard a nap. So I studied a book called Boys' First Book of Radio and made a valuable copy of the Amateur Radio Handbook, and tried to create my own, but it did not help. The magic of radio is with me today, but now I see it through the eyes of television.

As I look at the clear blue sky and think of all the radio waves that cross the empty space. If the colors were visible in those waves, then the sky would be bright as the laser light show. Somewhere out there, 100 light-years away, the first pulse is still traveling between the stars. Its creator, Marconi, believed that the sky was opened for unlimited communications. In the second half of the 20th century, I realized that in the day of Marconi, priceless and infinite seemed that the precious spectrum was sold in small slivers for billions of dollars.

Today, we use Marconi's word, "Wireless" again to describe cellular radio. There is a Renaissance in thinking about the capabilities of that empty sky. Thus, the radio has opened new doors in the field of science and entertainment. I believe that even today Radio has thanked people sticking to their set for radio included in cell phones. Over time, the face of the radio has changed, the more fast and entertaining channels have started. So whenever I listen to Radio Mirchi or Vibhad Bharti, I am happy that an old friend is here to stay.
