The USA and the Soviet Union are quarreling with each other in testing and production of nuclear weapons. China has recently entered the race. These facts, along with the increasing rivalry and tensions between the two power blocks, give rise to the fear that the world is dangerous on the verge of nuclear war.

The horrors of a nuclear war are unimaginable. By remembering the destruction caused by leaving a nuclear bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki at the end of World War II we can consider some of them. Not only did the two cities get out of existence, but the environment was polluted for nearby mills and people were suffering from strange diseases there. Due to nuclear weapons, destruction of entire cities and sudden deaths of millions of citizens is shocking.

But what is more shocking, although it is not felt adequately by ordinary people, there is a devastating effect of the use of such weapons on survivors and their unborn children. The radioactive fall spreads to miles and causes unknown damage to millions of innocent people. The radiation generated from the division of atom causes mysterious diseases and leads to the birth of defective children. In fact, nuclear tests and explosions in Siberia and the Pacific have suffered much before the decline, although the great powers that fulfill these experiments can not accept it. For example, it is known that a few years ago the nuclear test on the Marshal Islands affected the health of many Japanese fishermen.

In the past the losses caused by wars were limited. But modern warfare disrupts millions of innocent civilians and winners who can not escape from its harmful effects. As Bertrand Russell has said, "As long as mankind does not end the war, war will end mankind". Some argue that any major powers will be reluctant to start a nuclear war because it knows that it can not escape its destructive effects. But this argument ignores the underlying danger in the situation, which can explode any day.

Suggesting effective means of preventing nuclear war is not easy. Negotiations between UN efforts and big powers have not taken any fruit. Unless the Big Power is implemented by false ideas, conventions and meetings of selfishness, greed and superiority, nothing will be creative. There should be a change in heart in the part of Big Power, a realization that the war, especially the nuclear war, would include the magic of disaster, including everyone.

Generally and powerful countries, this change of heart can be brought about in anti-war propaganda in the world. People should be informed of the horrors of nuclear war, and a strong public opinion should be prepared against the production and testing of nuclear weapons. All people must be brought home to solve international disputes through the necessity of peaceful co-existence and negotiation rather than war.

This work is essentially educational and if all the peace loving people and organizations of the world can work together. Scientists can also play an important role in freeing the world of monsters of nuclear war. They can refuse research on the production of deadly weapons of war like atomic bomb and hydrogen bomb. They should only take oath to use science for peaceful and creative purposes.
