Winfrey was born to a virgin mother in a poor village of Mississippi. His mother, Wernitta Lee (b. 1935), is a housewife. The biological father of Winfrey, Vernon Winfrey (born 1933), is believed to be a coal excavator later with the Armed Forces at the time of the birth of Winfrey.
