Essay on Crimes in Urban and Rural Areas - 400 Words

The ecological aspects of crime can be best demonstrated by analyzing various crimes conducted in urban and rural areas. Many crimes which are common in urban areas are unknown for rural setting. The concentration of industry and commercial activities in urban areas has given rise to the problems of immigration, mobility of population and the lack of housing housing.

Better opportunities are available in cities to find out the availability of quick access to transport and to prevent their arrest. Teenage crime, shop lifting, small theft and sexual offenses are more common in slum areas and poverty-stricken homes. Apart from this, white collar crimes, bank-crimes, fraud, embezzlement, threats and such recurrence are mostly limited to urban areas.

On the contrary, some crimes are specially restricted to rural areas and they are rare in cities. Thus, theft, arson and trespass of crops and cattle is mainly the crime of rural setting. Commenting on the incidents of crime in urban and rural areas, Donald Tuft said that the number of crimes committed in rural areas is less compared to the urban population, because of the greater symmetry of rural population, less mobility and the absence of adequate opportunities.
