Mascara not done right can go terribly wrong. Which is why it is essential to the method behind it.

There’s no denying how important mascara is when it comes to having gorgeous lashes. Which is why it is imperative that you learn exactly how to apply mascara. These steps will shed light on how to use mascara the right way:

The Toolkit Essentials:

  • Eye lash curler with a sufficiently curved and cushioned pad.
  • Mascara base to increase the volume of your first coating
  • A mascara basis your preference, namely, for thick lashes, to match your outfit, a waterproof option or a disposable and dry option.

How To Apply Mascara Perfectly In 7 Steps:

Step 1: Ensure that your eyelashes are dry. This is a pre-requisite because damp eyelashes will take much more time to curl.

Step 2: Get a small yet clear table mirror and look down into it. Now, you’re all set to start.

Step 3: Gently hold the curler against your upper lash line. Ensure that you don’t crimp if the skin of your upper lash line is visible because you may end up pinching the delicate skin there. A better option would be to position the curler again so that the skin is not visible.

Step 4: This step is very crucial; lightly press down the curler in close proximity to the upper lash base. Hold it there for about 3 seconds and then do the same thing in the middle and on the tips of your eyelash. That done it’s time to crimp again at the base.

Step 5: Lashes curled, now it’s time for your mascara base. Begin at the base of your lash and zig-zag your way up; do the same with the inner and outer corners.

Step 6: To get rid of clumps gently pat the tip of your mascara on a paper tissue.

Step 7: If you’re going for multiple mascara coats, don’t do them all together; this will leave you will a very clumsy and thick looking coat of mascara. Instead, alternate between eyes, which means, coat your left eye first then coat your right eye, then go back to the left and so on and so forth basis the number of coats you’re looking at. This will give you more defined lashes.
