Shaniwar Wada History

Shaniwar Wada is a historic fortress built in Pune city of Maharashtra state of India. During the expansion of the Maratha empire in the 18th century, this fort was one of the main Kilo of the Maratha Empire.

The fort was completely burnt due to the untimely fire in 1828, but it remains open for travelers today. Even today, its external and internal form can be found in the fort.
 
Shaniwar Wada is a seven-storey capital building in Peshwa of Maratha empire. It is said that at that time Shaniwar Wada was one of the most artistic and fascinating compositions in history.

This fort was constructed only by using stone first. But after the completion of the lower floor, King Shiva ordered them to build the remains of the brick. According to them, only one king can be completely palace made of stones.

It is said that after the completion of the construction of the Saturn Wada, it was attacked by the British army, in which the upper six floors of Saturdays Wade were burnt to the ground and only the lower floor of this ward was left. Those decorated with British artillery.

In the present, only the main outside part of Saturday's Wada is left which we can still see in Pune city.

In June 1818, Peshwa Bajirao II abandoned his throne and handed it over to Sir John Malkolam of the British East India Company and, after being deported, he went to Kanpur, which is present in the state of Uttar Pradesh in present day India.

On February 27, 1828, a fierce fire broke out inside the palace. Until about seven days, the fire was not completely peaceful. After the entire castle was destroyed in the fire, only after the main gate of the palace, deep fountain and stone wall was left in the palace.

Construction work:

Chhatrapati Shahu's Prime Minister Peshwa Bajirao I inaugurated it on Saturday, 10th January 1730. Its name was kept on the basis of Shaniwar Wada Marathi word Saturday (Day) and Wada (place of stay).

The construction work of Saturn Wada was completed in 1732, at that time, about 16,110 rupees were built. At that time, the amount was not less than Arabo.

This wedge was inaugurated according to Hindu traditions on 22 January 1732, on 22 January was the day of Saturday.

After this Peshwao constructed many more things in Shaniwar Wada such as Water Fountain and Reservoir. This Wada is located in the town of Kasba Peth in Pune, near the Mata-Mutha river.

Famous culture:

  • In 2008, Saturn Wada was shown in The Amazing Race Asia 3. This is a type of sports show, in which one of the participants of each team has to identify one of the right pattas of the PETA worn by 50 people within Wada.
  • Shaniwar Wada is also shown in the 2015 historical drama Bajirao Mastani.

Shaniwar Wada Haunted Story (Horror Story):

On the night of Amavasus, this fort is converted into a place of ghosts and demons. According to the local people, they often hear the sound of "save me Kaka" here in the night.

It is said that when the last ruler who ruled here had been killed, the same word came out of his mouth. This story tells us about Shaniwar Wada in Pune.
