India is a vast country. Our development has started since independence. Science and Technology India has made remarkable progress in the fields of agriculture and medical technology and communication, but all these progresses do not appear in the form of coordinated development in front of the ever increasing speed of population growth. According to the population clock on May 11, 2000 our population has crossed the limit of one billion. As the population is increasing, there is a rush in every area, even most of our countrymen are battling with the problem of roti-cloth and house.

In the backward states of our country the density of population has increased steadily and it has had very bad effect on the life here. Due to corrupt social order, the rays of development have not reached villages. The people of the village have started migrating to the cities to deal with their problems. This is the reason that the residential problem in metropolitan cities has become a vivid question. Drinking water crisis has deepened. Unemployment is not taking the name of the decline. All four pollution is spreading. It is surprising that people with problems like medicine, education, nutritious food and housing are continuously moving forward towards increasing the population.

The government has created several such schemes in the new Population Policy, 2000, which could lead to the control of population growth. All plans in the direction of population control can not give any significant results till we do extensive development in the field of education. According to statistics, till 1999, there are 6.27 lakh primary and 1.90 lakh secondary schools in India, of which there are about 22 lakh teachers. In a country where this ratio of schools and teachers is very low considering the population requirement. Official statistics show that in 1999 only 11.09 lakh primary schools and only 4.03 lakh students were enrolled in secondary schools.

Any action can be taken in the direction of population through education and awareness. Although the government is continuously working in this direction with the support of NGOs in rural and remote areas through Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan. But today the importance of money has increased in our lives. The feeling of national and social duty has diminished. In this era, the rich Amir Amir has become poor poor. Children living below the poverty line are constrained to beg for beginners or to hard work wages. Government has benefited from such movements as Anganwadi centers and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan for the education and nurturing of such children, but the speed at which the population has increased, development in the field of education is not possible.

The government should also take certain penal action towards setting the growing population. On the other hand, towards the widespread publicity of education, the workers of big national leaders, officers, players, actors, teachers, physicians and non-government sector organizations should take full support. Like Indira Gandhi Open Universities, the universalism of higher education in the country should also be made for the people of the remote. To tackle this fierce problem of students in schools, motivation should be motivated by debate, speech competition, picture exhibition, drama etc. The media has a profound impact on our society. In order to promote population control and literacy, more and more use of Doordarshan, Akashwani, Newspapers and Magazines ads should be done for this purpose.

To cope with this stricken problem, self-employment plans will have to be promoted. Class 12 should be provided free education throughout the country so that we can get the power to fight evils and ill health due to illiteracy. More people should be motivated to adopt sterilization and other effective means by primary health centers. Our education should be tailored to the current conditions. In view of various social needs in current education system and curriculum, there is a need to improve. There should be special change on women education for the development of the country. Because educated mothers are playing a good role in population control. Overall, we have to create such teaching methods and education system which can not only be useful in population control but also create responsible citizens for the country.
