Dr. Rajendra Prasad was the first President of Independent India. He was famous as the 'Saint of Jiradei'. He was born on December 3, 1884 in the village of Saran district, Jiradei in Bihar. His father Shri Mahadev Sahay was a landlord. Rajendra Prasad was the fifth and youngest son of his parents.

In 1896, he took admission in a school of Chapra. In 1902, he came first in the entrance examination of the University of Calcutta. He was the first Bihari student who had achieved this success. In 1906 he obtained BA. Passed the test of. M.A. His position in the exam was supreme. He passed good marks in the examination of advocacy.
 
What was then- soon as a lawyer for the high court, he got fame. Seeing his pure character and integrity as a lawyer, all were amazed. He was the first General Secretary of the Congress, and in 1934 he was elected unanimously the Congress president. He remained an equal member of Congress General Secretary since 1912 and before the assumption of Presidential Council since 1922.

In 1946 Dr. Rajendra Prasad became the Minister of Interim Government in Bhindarath. When the country was liberated on August 15, 1947, the Constituent Assembly was formed under his chairmanship. In this way, under the supervision of Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the Constitution of our country was made. According to the system given in the new constitution, the first general election was held in the country in 1952.

In 1952 Dr. Rajendra Prasad assumed the position of the first President of Independent India. He was elected twice for the presidency - once in 1952 and second in 1957. In 1942, he was honored with Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honor.

When Rajendra Babu went to the Rashtrapati Bhavan, he got into thinking after seeing the majesty there. He pressed the soft cushioned bed on his hand and said, 'This bed is like the ghee-filled canister. If you leave a bowl in the canister, it will move towards the bottom without moving. There will be some similar condition on the person who sleeps on this bed. '
