International Literacy Day

History of Literacy Day: UNESCO decided on November 7, 1965 that International Literacy Day will be celebrated every year on September 8, which began to celebrate for the first time since 1966. Celebrating it around the whole world was started to give attention to the great importance of literacy for the individual, society and the community. This day is specially celebrated for the attention of the international community to get the education of adult education and literacy rate again.

International Literacy Day 2018 will be celebrated on Saturday, September 8.

According to the Global Monitoring Report on Education, it is worth noting that one in five women and two-thirds of women is illiterate. Some of them have low literacy skills, access to some children is still out of school and some children remain unregulated in schools. The lowest adult literacy rate of approximately 58.6% is the name of South and West Asia. Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger are the countries where the lowest literacy rate.

International Literacy Day

It is celebrated with the theme, program and goal of education all over the world. The theme of this day in 2007 and 2008 was literacy and health (to give strong attention to the epidemic to save people from TB, cholera, HIV and Malaria-like diseases). The issue of 2009 and 2010 was literacy and women's empowerment, while the theme of this festival of 2011 and 2012 was literacy and peace.

In order to promote the literacy rate of society, it is of special importance to celebrate this day in order to promote public consciousness about the written word and need of extraordinary value. To help improve literacy, some authors have written articles - Margaret Atwood, Paulo Cohenho, Philipp Dalmer, Paul Auster, Philipp Claudell, Fateau Diom and many more. Some companies, donors, global development research centers, Rotary International, Muntblank and National Literacy Institute are also involved in promoting social literacy. Literacy also shapes the life of a human being and also creates a cultural identity.

International Literacy Day is celebrated to know human rights and human rights towards society and to promote human consciousness towards literacy. Literacy is also important as it is for success and living. Deleting poverty, reducing child mortality, controlling population growth, achieving gender equality etc. are very important.   • The theme of 2006 for focusing on achieving social progress was "literacy sustainable development".
  • The theme of 2007 and 2008 was "Literacy and Health" to pay attention to the epidemic (HIV, TB and Malaria, etc.) and focus on literacy.
