Human Rights Day is celebrated every year on December 10 worldwide. In the year 1948, for the first time, it was declared annually by the United Nations General Assembly on December 10. It is celebrated annually on special date in honor of the United Nations General Assembly to declare it universal human rights. Human Rights Day was officially established in the United Nations General Assembly on December 4, 1950.

All member countries and interested organizations were invited to celebrate this day. The High Commissioner's Office of Human Rights was honored by the Guinness Book of World Records for the collection of translation and worldwide distribution in the declaration of human rights (about 380 languages). In this event, a global discussion on human rights by the High Commissioner is also organized through social media websites.

Human Rights Day will be celebrated on Monday, December 10, 2018.

How is Human Rights Day celebrated?

These days are celebrated by holding political conferences, meetings, exhibitions, cultural programs, debates and many more programs to discuss all issues of human rights. Many government civil and non-governmental organizations actively participate in human rights programs.

It is celebrated on the occasion of Human Rights Day by determining a particular theme to make the program more effective and successful. Human poverty is the biggest human rights challenge in any country. The main goal or purpose of celebrating Human Rights Day is to help eradicate poverty and live life well. Various programs like: Music, Drama, Dance, Art etc. are organized to help people learn their rights and focus.

Many programs are organized with the aim of educating people, children as well as young people about their human rights. Some anti-organized activities are organized to make people aware of areas where human rights are unrecognized and degraded.

Human Rights Day is celebrated by people all over the world to gain actual rights for humans. This day is celebrated to improve people's physical, social, cultural and spiritual well-being and welfare. Some important objectives and reasons for celebrating it are as follows:

  • Promote awareness about human rights among people around the world.
  • Emphasis on UN General Assembly's efforts to progress in the overall human rights situation.
  • Collaborate and discuss together to highlight specific human rights issues.
  • Encourage minority groups such as: women, minors, youth, poor, disabled persons and others to participate in and participate in political decision making in this program.
