India is trying to improve its higher education system for more than half a century but results in the case of systemic changes are minimal. Universities have expanded dramatically to meet the demands of rapidly powerful middle class, although resources are not enough to ensure the maintenance of standards.

In the bureaucratic environment of India, the political desire to change the universities has been insufficient. For these and other reasons, in the mainstream of Indian higher education, now 7,000 colleges serving more than 4,000 students and 150 universities, which are suffering from deteriorating standards, sometimes unrest and inadequate resources. However, it appears that significant changes and improvements have been made in the margins of the unpredictable system. Indian Institute of Technology, for example, provides high quality secondary education.

Even within the traditional universities and colleges, some interesting improvements in the course have been successful in limited areas. This analysis points to the factors that improve the correction and changes as well as some examples of limited successes. But an issue which raises concerns on the path which will lead to this success, there is reservation in the main institutions for the lower caste. Caste system has always haunted India's progress throughout its history. And now the education system is facing a single crisis.

Classes of people taking reservation in institutions argue that without reservation, they will not get admission in good institutions and people of general category will get all available seats. Strange to listen to words from the same people, who also seek similar status in India. The approach faced by these two is a matter of concern, because these people can use their reservation in an improper way, still seeking a similar situation. What about qualifications? Should not people of all classes have the right to enter institutions without reservation on the basis of Indians?

And if we add all the so-called privilege communities, then general category will appear as minorities! So whom will they get equal opportunity? An easy way to deal with this issue is to increase the number of student uplift by institutions first, so that in spite of any class in these institutes, the horizon of elevation for meritorious students increases. Secondly, the government takes a serious look at its reform policies and eliminates the caste system altogether or else this danger can spread to other systems in India.

Just imagine if someone asks for a policy in which the Indian cricket team has 25% posts for minorities! Is not this a ridiculous idea? If you feel yes, then apply the same reasoning for education and other administrative institutions, and you will get a rational opinion on the issue of reservation in institutions.
