What do you understand by Collective Responsibility of the Cabinet ?

Article 75 (3) of the constitution lays down that the Council of Ministers, including Prime Minister, shall be collectively responsible to the lok Sabha. This means that to continue to be in office, the Government must necessarily enjoy the confidence of the House. If a Government is voted or censored by the House on any measure or issue of vital importance, it is under moral and legal obligation to resign. All the ministers work as a team under the leadership of the prime Minister and are answerable to the Parliament for their actions as a team and not in their individual capacity. All important decisions of the Government are taken in the meetings of the Cabinet and any differences whatsoever are sorted out there before making any important pronouncement or bringing important legislation before the Parliament. Thus all the Ministers jointly accept responsibility for the policy and performance of the Government.
