The Hidimba Devi Temple is situated in the place called Manali of Himachal Pradesh. Hidimba Devi is worshiped in this ancient cave temple. Hidimba is found in Mahabharata as Bhima's wife.

This temple of Hindu religion was built by Raja Bahadur Singh in 1553. This historic temple of Hidimba Devi was built at a place called Dungri, just a kilometer away from the main hill station of Himachal Pradesh, Manali. The Kullu dynasty of Himachal worshiped this goddess as Kuldevi.

Hidimba Devi temple history

Anyone who is a religious place has a history associated with him, who keeps the person of Kaliyug close to him. Similarly, there is an interesting history associated with Hidimba Devi Temple. Hadimba was from a monstrous person who lived with his brother Hidim on this mountain of Manali. Pandavas had lost everything in gambling and they became homeless.

During his exile, Pandavas and mother Kunti were inadvertently approaching this mountain where Hidimba and her brother lived. Pandavas stopped to rest and slept on there, but Bhima did not sleep then he went near the river to take water. Hidimba wanted to attack the Pandavas but she could not do it because she was fascinated by Bhima and started loving her.

When Hidimba's brother discovered this, he started fighting with Bhima and was killed. Then Mother Kunti asked Bhim to marry Hidimba and they got married, due to which they gave birth to a baby called Ghatotakch. Bhima killed Hidim at this place.

Kuldevi of Kullu dynasty

This temple of Hidimba Devi is a belief of the Kullu dynasty, behind which there is a small story. It is said that a person named Vihangam Das used to work in a Kumar. Hidimba Devi had appeared in a dream of Vihangam Das one day and gave it a boon to become king of Kullu.

After this incident, Vihangam Das had killed a tyrannical king here, which led to he became the first king of the Kullu dynasty, and even today the people of Kullu Rajsharna worship Hidimba Devi.

This temple of Hidimba Devi is very beautiful and peaceful. The specialty of this temple is that it has four roofs and the terraces are made through wood. To build the three roofs below, pine wood has been used and the main and fourth roof above is made of copper and bronze. These four terraces are made in a sequential way, the lowest of which is the lowest roof and after that there is a small, smaller roof.

The texture of the temple is made in a very attractive manner. Which seems very impressive in seeing. The smallest roof looks like a vase in the view. The walls of this temple of Hidimba Devi are made of stones. The temple entrance and other walls have very beautiful carvings. Within the temple, a statue is believed to be worshiped, which is worshiped as deity form of Goddess.

This temple of Manali is very beautiful. The beauty of this temple surrounded by cedar trees is seen after snowfall. Every visitor to Manali will want to visit this place once. The temple is opened at eight in the morning and has stopped Shyam at six o'clock.

Every year thousands of people visit here. It can also be reached by air route, Bhunda Airport is located in Kullu. Here, Hidimba Devi temple is 40 kilometers away. Roads can also be reached by using local bus service and taxi.
