According to the Indian Constitution, development of women's education is the responsibility of the central government. But as women's education is a part of general education, it is the state government which is truly responsible for proper educational system.

Like other areas of education, the government is also engaged in the expansion, progress, inspection and financial support of women's education. In the early years of women's education, the education department carried out all these works through the local educational authorities.

This system of administration continued even after the appointment of school inspectors. Women's institutions are supervised and administered by the Directorate of Education in the states with the help and advice of the Education Director (Women).

School inspections and inspection of schools for various educational areas and districts have been appointed. But the number of women officers is insufficient and apart from this, due to double control, the work is not being done.
Efficiently This administration reaches hard to the girls' schools in rural areas.

The provision of proper management, supervision, advice and guidance of schools should be made for the development of women's education by the government. The Indian government appointed a National Women's Education Committee in 1958 and on the basis of its recommendations established a National Women's Education Council to study the problems related to women's education and proper guidance.

With the establishment of this council expectations have increased greatly. According to the recommendations of this council, establishment of a separate unit of education of women in the State Education Department, appointment of a Joint Education Director for women and establishment of an advisory council on the education of women has been some of the major achievements: Development of women's education .
