Democracy is defined by Abraham Lincoln, "for the people's government, people and people". This means that people themselves control themselves through the representatives elected by themselves. When elected representatives run the government, it is called representative democracy. Most modern democracy is representative (indirect) democracy. The idea is that politically all people are equal and the right to decide the formation of the government should be given.

In democracy, political parties have an important role. Democracy is not possible without political parties. During the elections, these parties select their candidates who contest elections from their representative constituencies. The party which gets the maximum number of elected candidates is invited to form the government. Other parties of the opposition. The leader of the elected party becomes the Prime Minister.

Importance of voting in democracy:

Voting in democracy is of great importance. Citizens should be very careful while voting for the candidate. They must vote for an honest, undoubtedly and competent candidate. The participant should have a secular approach. No one should vote in favor of a candidate who believes in casteism or regionalism. Candidates who are under the influence of any caste or religion and do not believe in preserving the national integrity, only to promote caste or community.

Such narrow minded people can not serve unbiased people. We should not vote for any individual party in return for any candidate and should not tilt for any temptation. While considering the candidate, we also need to ensure that the party which believes in the welfare of the people and will not do anything to harm the integrity of the country.

Problems before Indian democracy:

It is very important to cast their votes in the elections of every citizen. But in our country a large number of people give the least importance. Many literate and backward people do not understand the importance of voting. They are ignorant about their rights. There are many reasons why such people do not vote. Often they are not aware of politics and are not familiar with the names of the candidates. Therefore, they do not care to vote. Some people believe that they do not have any personal benefits and therefore do not care for the candidates coming to power and the party. Some people are just lazy and many lame excuses. But it only shows that such people are irresponsible and lack of civic sense.
